Blue whales are the largest animals on the planet. They grow up to 100 feet long and to a weight of 190 tons—the equivalent of over 150 cars. They were hunted nearly to extinction by humans and are still endangered. Blue whales can dive over 300 meters deep in the water. They can be found throughout the world, but their migrating patterns are not as regular as other baleen whales, making them somewhat mysterious. This piece paints a picture of a huge, powerful whale swimming up from the depths, breaching the surface, and diving back down into the dark, unknown depths.
