Program Note
In this dramatic quartet, the Boy is dangerously ill with scarlet fever. Nana and the Doctor monitor his symptoms with growing concern, while the Velveteen Rabbit hides under the covers, fearing that if he is found, they will take him away from the Boy. With love swelling in his heart, the Velveteen Rabbit sings a lyrical solo of hope in the Boy's ear, which the Boy echoes, breaking the fever.
